Wreckage of giant plane found - The Canberra Times - 24 February 1948

CHERBOURG, Monday.  

A trade-mark , on a life-preserver found in the sea appeared to confirm that the flying-boat crashed into the sea. The plane carried five Air Ministry officials, seven aviation construction experts and a crew, of seven. It was on a final experimental flight before going into service. A later report stated that wreckage of the giant aeroplane, Latecoere 631, which was missing with 19 persons on board, was found on Utah Beach, Normandy.
